1. Who we are

Jetpack Labs Inc., a British Columbia company ("we", "us"), runs larachat.co and the LaraChat Slack community. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site or join the community, why, and what you can do about it.

2. What you give us

We collect what you type into our forms:

  • Joining the Slack: your name, email address and the other details on the join form.
  • Contacting us: your name, email address, company, the topic you pick and your message.
  • Subscribing to the newsletter: your email address.
  • Submitting an article, job or event: what you submit and the contact details that come with it.
  • Staff accounts: name, email address and a hashed password.

3. What we collect automatically

When you visit the site, we and the services below collect:

  • Your IP address, browser, device and operating system.
  • The pages you visit, where you came from and when.
  • If you accept cookies: how you use each page (clicks, scrolling and mouse movement), recorded by Microsoft Clarity (sections 5 and 6).
  • Error reports when something breaks, sent to Sentry (section 5).

4. How we use it

We use your information to:

  • Send your Slack invite and run the community.
  • Answer your messages and partnership enquiries.
  • Send the newsletter you signed up for.
  • Review and publish what you submit.
  • Stop spam, bots and abuse.
  • See how people use the site, so we can fix what is confusing and improve it.
  • Find and fix bugs.

5. Services we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services that run the site for us, and only what each one needs:

  • Slack: when you join, we send your email address to Slack so it can invite you. Inside the workspace, Slack's privacy policy applies.
  • Microsoft Clarity: only if you accept cookies, records how you use our pages (session replays, heatmaps and usage metrics) and sets cookies to do it. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement (privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement). Clarity runs only on our public pages. It never runs on sign-in, password reset, email verification, team invite or staff pages.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that a person, not a bot, is sending our forms. Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser signals to do this.
  • Sentry: receives a report when the site hits an error. Reports include the page address (with private codes removed) and your browser details. They do not include cookies, form contents or what you typed.
  • Mailcoach: sends our newsletter and stores the subscriber list.
  • Email: messages from the contact form reach our team by email.
  • Stripe: processes any payment you make to us. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Hosting and storage providers: keep the site and its data running.

6. Cookies

We set a session cookie and a security (XSRF) cookie when a staff member signs in. These are needed for signing in, so we do not ask first.

Microsoft Clarity sets its own cookies (such as _clck and _clsk) to tie page views into a visit. Clarity does not load until you click Accept on our cookie banner. If you click Decline, it never loads. We save your choice in your browser, so we do not ask on every visit. We do not use advertising cookies.

To change your choice, click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. If you withdraw consent, we tell Clarity to delete its cookies and stop recording. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works the same either way.

7. How long we keep it

We keep member details while you are part of the community, newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and contact messages for as long as we need to deal with them. Clarity and Sentry delete their data on their own schedules. We may keep some records longer when the law requires it.

8. Security

We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords and limited staff access to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that nothing will ever go wrong.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct it.
  • Delete it.
  • Stop sending you email. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
  • Send you a copy in a portable format.

10. Children

LaraChat is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we will delete them.

11. International transfers

We and the services above may store and process your information outside your country, including in the United States. We rely on those services' safeguards for these transfers.

12. Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site.
