Community Guidelines
How we keep the LaraChat Slack useful and friendly.
By joining LaraChat you accept this code of conduct and Slack's User Agreement. We can remove anyone who breaks it, and repeated breaches can mean an immediate ban.
Laravel topics get heated, and open debate is welcome. Harassment and personal attacks are not. Breaking these rules can lead to a warning, a suspension or a ban. The list is not exhaustive: we can act on behaviour it does not name.
The rules
No advertising
Not without our OK. Share what you know and what you learned, not a sales pitch.
To advertise, use our partnership form.
No personal attacks
Attack an idea if you must, never the person. We act on this straight away.
No spam
Zero tolerance. That includes:
- Posting the same thing over and over
- Mass direct messages
- Posting off-topic content across channels
- Automated posts or bots
- Too much self-promotion
- Scams, pyramid schemes, chain letters and freebie links
Keep it professional
We don't censor profanity, but we ask you to keep it civil.
No harassment
Criticise ideas and tools all you like. Never:
- Discriminate on race, gender, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or any other personal trait
- Use hate speech or inflammatory language
Mind your words
We judge derogatory terms in context. Be respectful of other cultures.
No inappropriate content
Never post:
- Pornographic or sexually offensive material
- Offensive images or media
- Shock sites or other obscene material, which can mean a permanent ban
- Anything that promotes illegal activity
Respect people's privacy
Never:
- Share someone's personal details without their consent
- Harvest email addresses or scrape contacts
- Repeat what was said in a private channel
How we work together
Help each other
Answer questions and share what you know. That is what the community is for.
Be patient
People join at every level. Give newcomers your time.
Self-promote with care
Share your own work when it is relevant and teaches something.
Use the right channel
Pick the one channel where your message fits. Don't post it in several.
See something that breaks these rules? Report it to an admin in Slack. We never sell or share your email address.
We can close all of your accounts without notice if you break these rules. If we let something slide once, we can still enforce the rule later. We can work with the authorities and injured parties when they investigate a suspected crime or civil wrong.
